BLACK AND WHITE AND ORANGE ALL OVER

Orange you glad it's Halloween...

Who says Halloween has to be about streamy spider webs, goblins and ghosts. I enjoy these paper pom pom decorations, a bit spooky but still feminine.

What a great idea. Take one of your own solid dresses and dye it using a paint brush for the same effect.

I absolutely love this retro sewing machine.

This whimsical forest is fantastic. It's a bit of a production, but if you went through the effort it would definitely be worthwhile.

I love these dainty pumpkins. Make some of your own using a drill, it's quick and fun.

Forest creatures.
1920's pill case. Tres Chic

This turtle neck reminds me of The birds with Tippi Hedren. Eerie and stylish.

Fashionable costume - Magician and his deck of cards.

I'm not big on thrillers, but Jack Nicholson is amazing in The shining. Makes my hairs stand up every time.
If you love Vampires, then don't forget about this Dracula classic.

Just Insanely Bizarre.

This scientific adventure film is originally formated for 3D viewing, and is the ultimate classic of the fifties. What a fantastic idea for a Halloween party if you can scrounge up some 3D eye-wear.

Cute and simple carvings make me happy.

Pair your browns, oranges and whites for a great bo-ho look.

Home-made pizzas are the best. I love this idea using squash and carrots, YUM.

Delightful Squash Puree.
Alice in Wonderland...

Halloween Alaska Is a Minnesota based band that is exceptional in taste.

'TIL THE LAST LEAF FALLS

Here in Minnesota we have experienced some characteristics of winter, like frosty air and that dreaded SNOW. A few good inches have fallen, but lets not forget there are still leaves on the trees, and until they have been raked and bagged to your front lawn there is more fall dressing to do.

Annie Hall
I love this movie. There is just something about NYC with these two that has a great fall feel. Not to mention her timeless striped scarf.
Annie Hall's Boyfriend look. The vest and hat are essential. Wear the vest over anything; a tee, blouse, sweater or turtleneck. Great for any occasion.

Trousers in any shape or form. Skinny or cropped trousers work well with high stockings and boots. Flare or wide legged trousers look great with a tucked in tee or blouse. And don't forget that fur vests or scarves are still very much in.

Rain boots. I call this a hippie chic look. Wear them with your feminine skirts, dresses and tights. How comfy and cute!
I love these surf boards. By designer Kelly Wearstler. An inspirational decorator with her own studio, Kelly is well known for her colorful and mod-baroque interiors. Most popular at the Viceroy Hotel.
Bohemian fall patterns. Your summer dresses maybe thin, but if they are the right color, add them to your fall and winter collection too. Wear them with leggings, a turtleneck, and top it off with a scarf.

Ikat coat. Ikat is a style of weaving meaning to tie or bind. Using a resist dying process that is similar to tie-dye on the warp or weft before the threads are woven to create a pattern on the fabric. I love these Ikat coats, very innovative and bright. The coat says it all.

Studded rocker booties. The studded detail and buckles have a great edge. Wear them with your skinny's, leggings, or tights.

Plaid A-line coat. Classic black and white with cropped sleeves. Show off your cozy sweater underneath or wear high leather or knit gloves for a chic NY look.

Mustard cardigan with feminine detail. What a lovely layering piece for any occasion.

Mustard silk dress and red lipstick. Classic and chic for a fancy evening.

The Mod turtleneck dress. A must have for any women's closet. Wear it casual with a vest, dress it up with tights and a belt, or make it cozy with flat boots and a scarf.

Hunters plaid. This plaid is great on almost anything. Hats, mittens, skirts, jackets and scarfs, find your must have.
Funky shoes! How delightful, if you are a shoe fanatic these are a must!

Plaid blazers. Looking for something new to add to your closet, try something like this with a basic tee, skinny jeans or leggings for an overall great casual look.

Plaid dresses are still in. I love this dress. The drape on the neckline is very mod and refreshing.

Suits your fancy. The detail on this top is very pleasing. Wear it with jeans or dress it up with a pencil skirt. Very chic!
Retro clutch. Great art-deco detail with suede insets.

The cute ugly sweater.

Not a tree in sight, yet this resembles a forest of fall.

Did your mother every tell you not to play with your food, well I think this would make any mom happy.

Messy casual, yet still chic. I love the feel of this work look, the scarf and hat tops it off for a great fall outfit.

Hold on to your sleeveless v-neck sweaters, they always come back. I love this classic look, you could even add a silk scarf or suede hat. Either way adorably casual.

Vintage wool clutch. If you love vintage this is great piece for any outing.

Hues of red and blue. Adorable look. The blue tights are a bit funky but it's toned down with the grey dress and red color pops. All together it really works.

Chic brown polka dot scarf, a one of a kind piece that works well with anything, even your casual tee.

Casual cut and fabulous color, dress it up with black leggings and heels, or pair it with jeans, cute for anywhere.

New York Fashion. Head to toe, ya gotta love it.

I love this idea of the fitted black long sleeve and oversized bow. What a romantic look.

One of my favorites. Conductor style button up. This is a must have for any women's closet, it's one of those " I don't know what to wear" shirts.  Leggings and a scarf and you are good to go.

Jumpsuits any time of the year. I love this paired with the same color scarf, who says "matchy matchy" can't be chic.

Beach get-away!
I love blue shoes with jeans, these flats would go great with skinny's and a solid tank. The blue shiny satin says it all.

Chic rain jacket. Adjustable sleeves and wide collar makes this a great layering jacket.

Navy on navy, I like how they broke it up with a patterned belt, very adorable.
Silk navy day dress. I just love the ribbon draw string detail on the pockets and neck.

There is just something about draped clothing. It's flattering and chic, for any where abouts.

A great color and a great casual cut. I would do this with leggings and a long necklace.

PRINTS AND DYES

With the remaining heat of the season, make one last splash wearing summers best Batik's, African prints, and Tie Dye's

BATIK

Batik meaning "wax written" is an ancient Indonesian tradition used on textile by a wax-resist dying technique. Melted wax is applied to the fabric before being dipped in dye. The wax areas keeps it's original color as the dyed parts creates a contrasted pattern.

It's hard to find batik in fashion, but here are some that I have found and love.

Batik can be used for any fabric. What a great idea for scarves. Bold and exciting.

Try some of your own batik designs with just white fabric. Simple and Chic.

AFRICAN PRINTS

African prints are pure cotton fabrics and are hard wearing. These prints represent culture and tradition and are the most colorful and dynamic designs in the world.

Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter they make great layering pieces for all.

Mix and match prints as long as they have a coinciding color.

TIE DYE

Make something personal and Tie Dye. Fold material into a pattern and bind it with string or rubber bands. Then apply the dye to only part of the material. The ties prevent the entire material from being dyed and designs are formed.
You can Tie Dye almost anything. From clutches to shoes, it's simple and creative.

Silk tie dye is a bit more dressy. Great for day or night.
I love this monochromatic tie dyed romper, very cute with just gladiators.

Tie dye your basic tank with only one color. Cute with a black mini skirt or jeans.

Very hip Gauze tie dye sandals.
The chic side of tie dye...

I love this idea. Almost a water color effect. Tie dye your scarves. It's a great additive for any outfit.
